Sepia Dreams

I seem to be in a brown and cream mood lately. Maybe I'm just saving the color for Christmas. At any rate, I'm loving my cream dishes, and brown transferware, and beige napkins, with the dull gleam of vintage silverplate cutlery. Add a bowl of rosy red grapes, and a lovely sweet pear, and I'm good to go.

  5. I love cream dishes. I have a set of Edme Plain or Queen's Ware from Wedgwood. It is great as you can change the accessories to match any season of mood. I love the brown transferware combined with it. And I must say your turkey platter is so pretty.

  6. The brown transferware looks beautiful with the silverware. We have a large set of the transferware, started through a yardsale find. I discovered a boxful of dishes under a table, bought them, and then proceeded to spend the next many years adding to the set. We now have settings for 30 people, and the pieces have come from, VT, Mass, CT, NJ, and ebay...can you say mania?? It looks beautiful though...especially for the holidays. I love pairing it with pink. Susan

  7. Hi Susan, just the thought of all those lovely dishes is making me drool! :) I only have service for six, and no cups and saucers. It has taken me a couple of years to gather them -- they are all reproduction Spode. I would love to have some really old ones, though!

  8. Mary,
Love the brown. I am trying to start a brown collection after years of blue. Just got 2 cups and saucers from Des over at Peeking Thru the Sunflowers! The brown always seems like something Marmee and the girls would have had in Little Women.

  11. Dear Mary...these brown and white dishes are so pretty. My mother had a wonderful complete set, including all the bowls, serving pieces, for 8...Spode, from England. One of the largest sets I've ever seen; platters, bowls, salt and pepper shakers... It is now the shining spot in my daughter's breakfast room. Her dad built a shelf all around the room, just to display these lovely dishes on. I'll take a pic of it someday soon to show them to you.
    You have some lovely pieces!
