Catching My Eye...

It seems that there is always something new to catch my eye at the thrift stores and antique shops. I have been on transferware kicks and milk glass binges, and have joined the search for our elusive avian friends. But lately, it seems to be chasings and carvings on silver that catch my eye. Not sterling, of course, because I'm too cheap! :) But I love the monograms on silver-plate place settings, or these German silver spoons, and the pretty filligree decorations on serving pieces. Just thought I'd show you a few.

Penny, at Lavender Hill Studio, has given me the Community Blogger award. Thank you so much, Penny! I am truly honored, and would like to pass it on to Cindy, at My Romantic Home. She has been (and continues to be) the inspiration for so many of us, and has been so generous with her time and expertise, and talents. A visit to her blog is sure to reveal something beautiful, or delicious, or both!

  19. I have a question that I hope you or someone reading this might help me with. When I do a draft posting, how can I change the date to the posting date? Like if I do a draft tonight and want to post it the next day, the date shows up as the draft date. And, are the postings in order of the drafts? I can't just pick a draft out of the middle of the list and post it because it posts BELOW the other postings. I would love to be able to do several in advance and then post but I always goof up.....go figure!! :)
    Many thanks....

  21. Thanks for stopping by for drinks and cookies, oops, I mean ONE cookie! :)
Mary, I have so much blue and white, I am almost embarrassed about it. (pls. notice I said ALMOST !!) I fell in love with the German Blue Windmill canister sets over 40 yrs. ago and I've been collecting them ever since. I will devote a posting to just those, one of these days.

  22. Silver is my favorite!!! Old silver of ANY kind.....just bought a 24" square silverplated tray at the Goodwill...it is lovely and will be a perfect base for a beautiful Christmas arrangement and lots of stuff thereafter! I couldn't begin to tell you how many odd pieces I have, but I love them and polishing silver is the best mental/emotional therapy that I have found!!

  23. Mary - I'm loving a tour of your blog from beginning to end. Frequently I take some time and visit an entire blog to get better acquainted with the owner. My sweetheart is out of town until tomorrow and I chose to follow your blog journey from the beginning to the present. So far I'm up to this post and couldn't sit on my hands any longer. I love your silver pieces, your glassware, dishes and your wonderful family home. What a treasure to have the home you grew up in. I may have that opportunity one day if my dear little mother doesn't ever have to sell it to make a move for health reasons. Or, we might buy it from her! That's what I'd love to do. Perhaps.

I am so enjoying the engraved silver pieces. I have some of my great-grandmother's and I'm always finding something special somewhere. I use mine for special things.

Thanks for sharing your life with us. I'll be back often.

    ~Adrienne~
